Instructors Bios

Bashar Al Huneidi

Bashar Al Huneidi, founder of Gulf Kayak Academy, is a world-class athlete who has represented Kuwait in international competitions and world championships. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Biodynamics from
California State University (CSU Sacramento) and level three certification in kayaking from the British Canoe Union (BCU) and International Sea
Kayaking Guide Association (ISKGA).

Bashar’s deep passion for kayaking is rooted in his love for the outdoors
and passion for preserving our environment. Mr Al Huneidi organizes and
leads kayaking expeditions to spread awareness of ocean pollution and
how it continues to harm marine life.

In 2013, AL Huneidi and a fellow kayaker were the first to complete the trip from mainland Kuwait to the island of Failaka and back, which totaled ten hours of kayaking. He orchestrated and led an expedition in 2017
throughout the Arabian Gulf, going from Kuwait to Oman – a trip that
totaled approximately 2,000 km and ninety days at sea.
Additional notable sports achievements and experiences:
– Certifications in kayaking, scuba diving, and cave diving
– Certified paragliding pilot – British Hang Gliding and Paragliding
Association (BHPA)
– Winner of the Kuwait Archery Championship in 1981
– The first (and currently the only) registered snow skier from the GCC in
the International Ski Federation (FIS)
– Represented Kuwait at the Asian Winter Games in the alpine ski event
– Represented Kuwait in the 2001 and 2003 FIS Alpine Ski World
Championships
– Four decades of experience in outdoor rock climbing and mountaineering
– University team member of the water-skiing disciplines: slalom, jumping, and barefooting
– Member of varsity swim teams at Portland State University and California State University

Belhadj Yassine

Belhadj Yassine is a gold-medal kayaker with a four-year degree from the Ksar Said Higher Institute of Sport and Physical Education, an institution of higher education and research in science and technology of physical and sports activities.

Belhadj is an African and Arab World Olympic kayaking and rowing champion, having received multiple gold medals in regional competitions.
He is an experienced kayaking instructor with a deep commitment to his
students and great passion for the sea.
